Williston Memorial Library

History

Built in 1905 on the site of the 1870 library and named for A. Lyman Williston in 1917. Additions to the edifice were synthetic in 1935 and 1968, and and then most recently in the 1990s.

Decoration Twenty-four hours was the original proper noun for Memorial Day. The holiday started when Northerners began decorating the graves of Union soldiers killed in the Civil State of war.
